The Awkward Yet Unavoidable First Post...

Hello! Welcome to the official* Bristol Improv blog. I'm Emily, and I write the blog because a) it is almost impossible to shut me up, although many have tried, and b) I'm technically in charge of Bristol Improv.

Bristol Improv is an improvised comedy group based in a mystery location.** We take your suggestions from the audience and turn them into "hilarious" improvised sketches, using funny voices and puns to cover the fact that we are making everything up on the spot.*** We can be very funny, although you can laugh at us regardless.

This summer, we are travelling waaay up north to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! Exciting! We will be performing a brand-new show called Channel Hopping!, which I will tell you more about soon. You can find dates and book tickets here: http://www.edfringe.com/whats-on/comedy/channel-hopping.

Bristol Improv is the "stage-name" of Bristol University ImprovSoc. We run weekly workshops at the Students' Union, teaching the basics of improvised performance and practising being funny. Everybody gets a chance to try improv and we have enormous fun - not including drinks in the bars of Bristol afterwards. If you're a student of the University of Bristol and want to give comedy a go, then find us at the Fresher's Fair this October.

I did warn you that it is almost impossible to make me shut up, but fortunately for you I have to pause for breath here. If you're on Twitter, follow us (@bristolimprov) for a very much smaller dose of Bristol Improv.

* I'm not presuming that anybody would want to create an unofficial Bristol Improv blog. It would be flattering, certainly, but highly unlikely. If you do want to write an unofficial blog, you're more than welcome. Although I can't endorse it. Then it would be... Official.
** If you can't guess the mystery location, then you are exactly intelligent enough to fully appreciate one of our shows.
*** The audience member who called us "hilarious" may or may not have been using this term ironically.
